Courses 95152, 95500, 96964, or 91413 meet addiction requirement; course 93093 meets neonatal requirement.
RNs, APRNs, LVNs and PTs are required 30 contact hours every two years.
RNs Beginning January 1, 2023, RNs are required one (1) hour of implicit bias training one-time only, within the first two years of licensure. This is the only continuing education required for first license renewal after taking the national licensing exam.
Nurse Practitioners (NPs) with prescriptive authority must complete 3 contact hours on Schedule II controlled substances including the risks of addiction associated with the use of Schedule II controlled substances as part of the 30 contact hours.
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required 8 hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder, one-time only.

Licensed Midwives (LMs) are required 36 contact hours every two years. Licensed midwives are licensed under the Medical Board of California and may complete courses from an approved California Board of Registered Nursing provider.
